About Us

Building Norfolk began as Grocott & Murfit’s flagship community investment programme, created to demonstrate that a construction business can build far more than exceptional homes, it can help build stronger, healthier and more resilient communities.

Our Story

Established in 2020, our pilot project offered much needed wellbeing support to elderly residents during the early stages of the covid pandemic - a programme which received recognition from Lady Dannatt, Queens Lieutenant in Norfolk.

Later becoming a Community Interest Company (C.I.C.), the programme has continued to reflect the belief that successful businesses have a responsibility to reinvest in the places where they live and work, creating lasting social value across the county. See all projects

Now a registered charitable foundation (CIO) , our focus is on building a sustainable and thriving county, where wellbeing and opportunity go hand in hand with education and growth. Get involved

Our Recent Projects

Building communities isn’t a one-off project. It’s a long-term commitment.

To create stronger, healthier and more connected communities and investing in the people who will shape Norfolk’s future.

We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to thrive regardless of their background, age or circumstances. Through Building Norfolk, we bring together businesses, schools, charities, community groups and volunteers to create positive change where it matters most.

The Founder

“As the founder of KL Magazine, my passion has always been to showcase the very best of Norfolk. I care deeply about this beautiful county, so becoming a trustee of building Norfolk feels like a natural next step. It gives me the chance to actively support the people and communities who make Norfolk such a special place to live, work and experience.”

‘The charity is a great way for me to help some fantastic people give something back to the county that has given me so much over the years. I have learnt over the years that sometimes the best way to effect change is to get in and do it ourselves. It is so rewarding to be able to be part of a team that’s efforts directly translate into better outcomes and options for our community.’

‘I am excited to be a trustee, as we can bring together so many opportunities and support to a wide spectrum of organisations and people and I am proud to be part of the support that can be offered.’

“I’m incredibly proud of what Building Norfolk has achieved since its inception. Having been part of the original pilot project, it’s a real privilege to join the Board of Trustees and support the next stage of its journey as a charitable foundation. Bringing together my passion for placemaking and community, I’m excited to help build on its impact and support the people and places that make Norfolk such a special place to call home.”
